Payhip started collecting US sales tax for you on 1 July 2026

Payhip became a US marketplace facilitator five weeks ago. It now collects and remits US sales tax on your sales, at no cost — but there is a catch about your own state. Checked 9 August 2026.

This change is five weeks old and we have not seen a single guide mention it.

What changed

Payhip's US sales tax help article — its own page says Last updated on June 30, 2026 — states:

From July 1st 2026 we are now handling sales tax in the US on your behalf. … We have become entirely responsible for collecting and paying sales tax in the US.

It also says plainly: "We are defined as a marketplace facilitator in the US."
